We received confirmation from vets in our precinct that 4 dogs from different addresses in the area has been poisoned with a product known as "2step", mixed in at least one instance in wors. This is nearly always fatal and it is therefore extremely important that you take your animal to a vet immediately if you suspect poisoning.

On the Health 24.com website they write: "One teaspoon is enough to kill a grown rhino, a mere 1 mg can kill a rodent weighing less than a kilogram, and this substance is more poisonous than arsenic.
In recent years, Temik – or "Two-step" as its illegal buyers know it – has become a powerful weapon used by burglars to silence their canine victims. In 2003, the poison was used to maliciously kill ninety-seven pets in the Gauteng province alone."

Signs and symptoms of "2step" poisoning include: salivation, muscle tremor, nausea, watery eyes, difficulty breathing, vomiting, pinpoint eye pupils, excessive sweating, diarrhoea, blurred vision, abdominal cramps, weakness and headache. In severe cases, convulsions, unconsciousness, and respiratory failure may occur.

In dogs, symptoms include muscle tremor, vomiting, diarrhoea, and severe salivation.
